Community campaign

Fair Play Claremont

A one-page campaign site for equal girls' softball facilities in Claremont, California. It makes the case quickly and keeps the petition in reach. Donated.

The cause

Fair Play Claremont is a community campaign for equal youth softball facilities in Claremont, California. Its case is simple: the city’s girls’ softball program has no field with both lights and a fence. The campaign asks the City Council to repeal Ordinance 11.08 and provide equal facilities under California’s Fair Play in Community Sports Act.

What I built

A single page that makes the argument quickly and keeps the next step in view:

  • A side-by-side comparison of the fields boys and girls play on.
  • The law and the city ordinance, with links to the sources.
  • The campaign’s two requests of the City Council.
  • Petition buttons throughout the page, plus one-click sharing to Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.
  • A share image, so links look right when they’re posted.

Built to be shared

A campaign site is read on phones, from a link someone sent, often in a hurry. It’s one light page with no app to load. It has a skip link and labels for screen readers, and it respects visitors who prefer less motion. There’s no analytics or tracking: people read it, sign, and pass it on.

I also documented where each piece of copy lives, so the wording can be updated as the campaign moves.

Donated

Code For Broke donated this site to the campaign.
